What is Z39.50 standard?

Z39.50 is an international (ISO 23950) standard defining a protocol for computer-to-computer information retrieval. A user can in one system can search and retrieve information from other computer systems (that have also implemented Z39.50) without knowing the search syntax that is used by those other systems. Therefore, any users around the world can search Shinawatra University Library catalog in the same standard.

For more information, please refer to Library of Congress's Gateway to Library Catalog, ILRT Z39.50 Resources Directory or Z39.50 Maintenance Agency of Library of Congress.
