Graduate Library Relocation Noticee Library Relocation Notice

Dear LIS Students & Staff:

Please kindly be advised that the Graduate Library will be relocating to BBD Viphavadi Building.  The current location will stay open until Wednesday May 12, 2010 end of day.

New location in the BBD Viphavadi building will resume operations and be fully accessible on Monday June 14, 2010.  Returns and sign-outs after May 12th must be at the new location.

SIU-THAICOM Foundation donate Bt50 million

 Shinawatra University together with the Thaicom Foundation recently opened applications for 50 scholarships, each worth Bt1 million, for Thai students to further their education at Shinawatra University. The scholarships are part of Shinawatra University’s “Creating Professionals” program and will cover all the costs of the recipient throughout the duration of a 4-year course of study.
The announcement was made at a press conference held recently at Shinawatra University’s Bangkok facility, in Shinawatra Tower III.

Inter-Library Loan(ILL)

ILL and DDS allow library users to request reading materials from other libraries. Users can borrow book, obtain journal article and conference paper that are not available at SIU library, though some items may carry applicable fees. Services are avaliable to SIU faculty, staff, and students for research and learning purposes at the university.

DDS between SIU Main Campus and the Graduate Building takes place twice daily via shuttle bus.

SIU PhD Student Won the Best Student Project Awards from Asian Semantic Web 2008

From Dec 8-12, 2008, Ms. Photchanan Ratanajaipan, PhD student of School of Technology (far left), attended the Asian Semantic Web School in Bangkok. Her group won the best student project awards under topic “GiftMe”, which applied ontology with a gift recommendation Web site. The Asian Semantic Web School aims to teach its attendees how to apply semantic technologies in their own projects and environments. There were 40 PhD students and young researchers attending the school.

Som Graduate Student Team Honored in Regional Compettition

A team of School of Management graduate students was a Finalist in the 2009 Global Social Venture Competition – Southeast Asia. The Team was among 11 finalists from 7 countries. The winning regional team from Prasetiya Mulya Business School, Indonesia, eventually went on to win the global competition at University of California, Berkeley. Receiving the finalist certificate were Mr. Adiwit Sirichoti of the MSM Program, SIU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanjana Chansa-ngavej, the product innovator, of Chulalongkorn University.
