All are invited to join the Assumption Team Chess Championship 2010 to be held at the Shinawatra University, Lard Lum Khaew, Pathum Thani, during 15th-18th October 2010 [See map attached].  Free lodgings (3 beds per 1 room) are provided for the entire 25 min. + 10 sec. rapid-game tournament of 3/4-member/team.  No entry fee.  Prizes are beautiful trophy +  medal for the winner and medals for the first and the second runner-ups.  Kindly send your confirmation and/or application form by email to Khun Poompat Sivara at or to Khun Panupand at  Anyone who wishes to play but cannot yet find his/her team members are advised to contact Khun Poompat or Khun Panupand for further assistance in this regard.  There will be a minibus service at the cost of Baht 50.00 per trip per person from the Vipavadee Campus to the Shinawatra University at 12.00, 14.00, 16.00, 18.00 and 20.00 hours on Friday 15th October 2010.

SIU Library Resources

Shinawatra University library is named the Office of Library and Information Services or LIS. There are two libraries, one located at the main campus in Pathumthani, another one at BBD Building (Viphavadi). The Library utilizes an automated library system, RFID system and computer high speed network to support teaching, learning, research and edutainment. The online service enable users to access full text in reference databases, bibliographies and indexing resources provided by the Library and worldwide information resources from anywhere and at any time. Document delivery service offers an additional convenience for users by transporting requested items between the two libraries.

Students are the library members after your registration. Student ID card is needed to present for the library services.

You can search catalogs in the Library and other libraries including Intranet resources, access digital documents and reference databases, view your library records (at my account – the place that you can view your library records to check and update your library profile and status) and renew your items.

- EBSCO Database now includes a business video collection with 55 videos from the Harvard Business School Faculty Seminar Series. The series feature engaging video lectures from renown professors and experts at the Harvard Business School. All lectures are captured from executive education programs, and offer groundbreaking ideas, insightful research, and practical advice on management issues. The videos contain a table of content allowing the selection of a specific topic. Most of the lectures provide a transcript in PDF format.

ThaiLIS Digital Collection (TDC): Online theses and

researches in many fields. ThaiLIS (Thailand Library Integrated System) is a collaborated project among university and academic libraries in Thailand. Project objectives are to develop a digital collection of research papers, rare books and articles, and to share library resources.

Australasian Digital Theses Database (ADT): Online thesis in many fields. ADT is a distributed database of theses produced by the postgraduate research students at Australian and New Zealand universities. Theses are available to the world electronically in Portable Document Format (PDF), thus providing access to, and promoting Australian research to the international community.

LIS Corner – Relaxing Room

SIU provided a room no. 303B, located on 3rd floor, main building for teens since July, 13th, 2010. The room features newspapers, magazines, wireless internet network, TV and VCD/ DVD player. You can chat, read, relax, eat, drink and meet your friends. It’s a cool place to hang out.

GLIS extended weekend service

In response to students’ requests, the opening hours of GLIS are extended on weekend and the regular hours are changed, as follows:

Mon. – Fri.:                   11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Sat. – Sun.:                   9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

ELLIS Academic 3: English Training Software

SIU provides ELLIS Academic 3, an English training program for students and staff. The ELLIS program is designed to help individuals who do not have the time to participate in formal English courses and to be used in conjunction with teacher-based courses as a supplement to formal lessons.

There are 3 different program types designed for specific groups and needs: ELLIS Kids, ELLIS Academic & ELLIS Business.

Please take advantage of ELLIS Training Software at GLIS or the SIU Dormitory.

SET Corner

LIS is pleased to introduce “SET Corner”, a new collection in our library, both at MLIS and GLIS. SET Corner is a collection of books mostly in Thai, donated by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (ตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย) in order to distribute knowledge of saving and investment to undergraduate students, professors, academic personnel and the general public. Graduate Library Relocation Noticee Library Relocation Notice

Dear LIS Students & Staff:

Please kindly be advised that the Graduate Library will be relocating to BBD Viphavadi Building.  The current location will stay open until Wednesday May 12, 2010 end of day.

New location in the BBD Viphavadi building will resume operations and be fully accessible on Monday June 14, 2010.  Returns and sign-outs after May 12th must be at the new location.
